Kia Tasman looks like the “Tasmanian devil” – the horror from Kia

Recently, Kia presented a new Tasman pickup truck, which, unfortunately, turned out to be controversial…

Before we start discussing the technical and visual characteristics of the new car model, let’s think about the name! What first comes to mind when you say “Tasman”… For example, “Tasmanian devil”! No, of course, we are not hinting at anything, but there are certain parallels… and unfortunately, in appearance too!

Officially, the name Tasman for the Kia pickup was chosen, inspired by the Tasman Strait between Australia and Tasmania. It symbolizes a connection with nature and unexplored territories, which corresponds to the spirit of adventure and reliability that they want to convey through the model. The name also has a certain exotic character, emphasizing the car’s uniqueness among competitors.

Kia Tasman is an upcoming pickup that KIA plans to release by the end of 2024. The model will offer powerful engine options, including a 2.2-liter turbodiesel and a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. This pickup will provide options with all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive, allowing you to choose the best option for different conditions. The interior will be equipped with advanced technologies such as a dual screen and convenient functions for the driver. Already in 2026, KIA plans to release a fully electric version of the Tasman.

Design of new Kia Tasman

When designing the front of the new Tasman, Kia made the mistake of combining the brutality and square shapes characteristic of pickup trucks with the bloat that is currently in fashion. The result was a design without any logic or common sense. In general, the front part of the new Tasman wants to imitate the Ford f650. Both of them have huge radiator grills and headlights located in the same way, but Kia still has some “bloat” in front and thinner headlights, which distorts the car. What has Alfa always been famous for? Beautiful shapes and attractive proportions – visual beauty. This is what seduces all car lovers! Unfortunately, the Tasman evokes the opposite emotions and reaction…

From the side, Kia Tasman pleasantly surprises. No unnecessary bloat and inaccuracies. Clear and simple square pickup style. The only HUGE minus is the black inserts above the arches, which do not fit the car, but at the request of the client, they can be in the color of the body. Kia even made chopped windows that add beauty to the car.

The back of the car is also quite good with an interesting design solution, if the profile resembles a Ford Raptor, however, if you look at the rear of the car, it has a completely different shape. The design of the rear part of the new Tasman is also very reminiscent of the Jeep Gladiator with almost the same headlight solution.

Kia Sportage 2021

Very recently, the world saw another “masterpiece” from KIA – the new Sportage. The design of which is unreal and terrible. For some reason, the radiator grill was made huge (as in Tasman) and divided into two parts. And the solution of the headlights is so terrible that one gets the impression that they were drawn by a child. In addition, these boomerang headlights simply parody the Mitsubishi style with the use of boomerangs in the design. Looks like a predatory alien from outer space!

In profile, the new Sportage tries very unsuccessfully to imitate a sports style. The front part in the profile looks like a Mitsubishi. Well, the rear lights in the profile are already preparing us for the worst.

The rear of the new Sportage also leaves much to be desired. Its design does not correspond to the sporty style inherent in other design elements of the car. The design of Kia headlights is not the worst solution, but it does not fit the “sporty” style of this car.

KIA Niro 2022

And probably the most terrible car in the history of the Kia brand is the Niro. Before this car, such an impression was inspired by the Chinese automobile industry (all at once) and the new electric models of Chevrolet at the same time. Everything about the front, from the unnecessary grille to the terrible two-level headlights, is terrible. Compared to this, the Sportage and Tasman are the Alfa Romeos of the world of car design.

The profile of the new Kia Niro looks no less terrible. Unnecessary inserts of a different color create the impression that the car has just been in an accident. The front part of the profile resembles the worst cars of the Chinese automobile industry.

The rear of the Kia Niro is also terrible. One gets the impression that the back of this car was simply torn off from another and a little sloshed without much effort.

Conclusion:

Quite recently, Kia rebranded and everyone hoped that behind the new badge there would be a completely new, beautiful and concise design, and this was even supported by the excellent Ev6. However, behind the new icon was the same terrible design, and it turned out not to be the most original.
